As a Senior Solutions Engineer, my primary responsibilities include 1) Project Technical Discovery, 2) Technical Lead for Project Design, Development, and Implementation, and 3) Visionary for Future Technical Direction. For Project Technical Discoveries, I'm directly involved with the client, learning about current workflows and processes. We discuss data, users, supporting architecture, and anything related to usage of the GIS. From the engagements, I determine the best path forward, and help deliver a vision to move the client and their GIS program forward. As a Technical Lead on projects, I work directly with the client and project manager to assign tasks to tech resources, provide background and guidance for tasks, and ensure the work quality standards are being met while work is being done. At times, I am providing feedback to other tech resources when I've identified gaps between the expectations of a task and the capabilities of a tech. The Visionary role is part of a company-led to discuss and usher new technology into the company. This particular role allows me to be aware and utilize newer technology and help identify migration strategies for our company to adopt and sell the technology as part of our services. In addition to the above roles, I'm also a supervisor, technologist, and assist the sales team on estimates, demos, and short lists. Show less My primary responsibilities as a Solutions Engineer for the State and Local Government team of GISinc include Architecture Consulting, Data Migration, and Visioning,Architecture Consulting - Identifying areas within a client's GIS that can be updated to improve on performance, functionality, and efficiency. This includes tasks such as installing and configuring software, writing automation scripts and processes, and creating both desktop and web-based products for internal workflow usage, and external GIS presence to stakeholders.Data Migration - Developing processes to efficiently and thoroughly convert legacy and non-typical data types into schemas widely used and understood by common GIS software, such as ArcGIS. The migration process allows for clients to take advantage of current technologies, easing the process of turning data into information.Visioning - Outline workflows and products that can both add value to a client's GIS, and also keep them current with technology. A challenge for all stakeholders of technology is staying current and productive. As a solutions engineer, visioning is very important when planning and implementing solutions for clients. The goal of visioning is to meet the needs of the client all while the needs of the infrastructure are met and sustained. Show less
