      Primary Purpose The UoN HIV Capacity Building Fellowship was a CDC funded program aimed at increasing HIV/AIDS program capacity through human resources for health trainings, participation in service delivery, and implementation of projects to address identified organizational gaps to support the transition of the Kenya HIV program to local organizations. The Program was collaboration between Kenya Ministry of Health (MoH), University of Nairobi (UoN), Management Sciences for Health (MSH) and University of Washington (UW) Key Responsibilities:• Led the planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of program activities.• Supervision of sub-contracts for 3 consortium members, 3 collaborating universities and 15 participating local partners • Built and maintained effective relationships in support of the program’s work in Kenya. • Ensured the physical welfare, well-being and professional development of trainees and program staff. • Ensured effective management of finances and other non-human resources.Accomplishments:• Led recruitment of 15 HIV service delivery organizations in the 2014 – 2015 fiscal year to gain from evidence based capacity building interventions, out of these were 5 high HIV burden counties in Kenya.• Successfully managed an implementation team of 8 staff, over 52 trainers & mentors and an annual program budget of $ 2 million Show less Primary PurposeThe UoN HIV Fellowship Project was a CDC funded initiative designed to provide leadership and management skills for professionals managing HIV/AIDS programs in Kenya. It was a collaboration between the University of Nairobi (UoN) and University of Washington (UW)Key Responsibilities:• Provision of long-term vision, strategic direction and appropriate planning aligning with donor and project objectives.• Reviewed the project proposal, budget, targets, key performance indicators and ensure that the planning is realistic (Measurable, Reportable & Verifiable), both in terms of budget and implementation.• Assisted local partners to develop a plan in line with the required project.• Facilitated and enforced quality assurance and program standards.• Supported compliance with budgets based on donor budget guidelines.Accomplishments:• Was a co-author of the funding proposal (UoN HIV Capacity Building Fellowship) that won a 5 year CDC grant the grant is worth a total of 10 million United States Dollars.• Led the team that successfully implemented the UoN HIV Fellowship Project Grant (2009 – 2014)• Supervised the implementation and dissemination summative evaluation of the project.• Led the design and implementation of project closure strategies.• Led development of the final financial and programmatic report for submission to CDC.       Primary Purpose:Strengthening governance and leadership structures of health professional associations in Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania & Uganda while supporting their capabilities to engage with government, influence policies, raise awareness, enhance quality standards and professional ethics, promote national and international cooperation and secure resources. The project was funded by Johnson & Johnson Corporate Citizenship TrustAccomplishments• Provided technical advice to ministries of health in East Africa through policy briefs on mainstreaming of health professional associations programming into national health and planning processes.• Led the development and launch of 5 year strategic plans, budgets, websites, and implementation of organizational capacity assessments (OCA) for health professional associations in Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania & Uganda. The Human Resources for Health Mechanism (HRH) was a five-year project funded by United States Agency for International Development (USAID) (September 27, 2016 to September 26, 2021Accomplishments• Member of the Kenya National COVID-19 Task Force (Vaccination & Capacity Building of Health Workers Committee). I led development and implementation of 2 COVID-19 blended courses targeting health workers in Intensive Care Units (ICU) and community health workforce.- Member of Kenya MoH Division of Community Health Capacity Building and eCHIS development TWGs.• In collaboration with the Kenya Higher Educations Loans Board (HELB), I successfully managed the Afya Elimu Fund (AEF). This is a revolving fund that provides low interest (4%) loans to prospective healthcare trainees in mid-level medical training institutions.
