  I took on the role of being the Department Lead for Middle School English at a time when the world was shutting down due to Covid. The format of Education and schooling as we knew it - had to change overnight or wither away. As the subject lead, I worked with my team to create an online version of the middle school English Curriculum without compromising on student outcomes and learning objectives. This entailed reimagining student engagement, teaching resources and even assessments. This was as challenging as it was rewarding because we had students write some of their best work using writing strategies taught in class. The quality of dialogue, discussion and debate in class on the novels and poems explored across grades 6 - 8 significantly increased due to the kind of tech platforms and tools my team was using across all sections. Once Covid settled, we had an opportunity to see how we could take the tech platforms into the classrooms to increase student engagement and learning.This was also a great opportunity to make our assessments more focused and so it was in 2021 - 22, that I revamped the assessment framework for English which benefitted both teachers and the students. Show less Following the birth of my second son in 2016, I decided to take a break from full time employment and pursue a Master's in Design in Education. However, I still wanted to keep my foot firmly within the school. In this period, I ran College essay writing workshops for Grade 11 students and also trained and mentored new teachers in the Writing Workshop methodology.
