  Completed a year in industry in a travel agency in Madrid. Rotated through different functions and my main responsibilities included translating products and copy for the website, frequently engaging in meetings with potential business partners, assisting with web design and social media marketing, and SEO. Living in Madrid helped me to improve my level of Spanish more than ever, and I improved my cross-cultural awareness and communication skills. Working in the travel and tourism industry throughout the COVID-19 pandemic proved difficult, especially for a small business, but as a team we saw the light at the end of the tunnel and dealt with new potential partners and clients for improved trips and tours for the coming year. We took advantage of this downtime within the industry to help to optimise the webpage and create new products for summer 2021 and the coming years. Learning to speak Spanish in a professional working environment was my major takeaway from my placement, and I hope to use these skills in my future career. Show less
