An example of a Seminar Leader:John Hope Franklin the best known Historian of post-Civil War Reconstruction and later to be President of the University of Chicago; Dr. Franklin always found ample time to lead sessions in my dormitories Library at Amherst College.More significantly I saw Dr. Franklin the leading Scholar of our own Reconstruction period on a near "day- by- day" basis" analyzing what he thought was going on daily in Southeast Asia.Franklin said the bloody conflict in Vietnam was largely a "Brothers" war and looked to Europe as an example of not joining in on civil wars. Visiting Professor

This is a "second-tour of duty" as I just returned to Asia with a two year Teaching contract at Hanoi Pedagogical University. The history of the U.S. Fulbright Senior Foundation and specialized content area has over time had a clear connection toward upgrading Vietnam Teacher Colleges like Hanoi Pedagogical University However not nearly as active financially or as aggressive with funding as in post-war Vietnam. However large amounts of good will in Stipends, Honorariums and Travel and other tangible enticements are still available in both Teacher Preparation and Liberal Arts schools all over Vietnam This summer I will apply to do a type of 2 to 6 week program with Fulbright. This Summer program I am told falls under the auspices of the U.S. Fulbright Senior Scholar Specialized Program but is much reduced in time of service expected for you to serve.Hanoi Pedagogical University is an institution that still offers stipend and travel features for Volunteering American scholars;however it is self-funded and currently works nicely even without Fulbright monies. Scholars such as my myself with other Content areas where they have proven experience in for example Business and Organizational Development are usually funded for 2 week to six week Fulbright grants.
