Activities and Societies: During this virtual course on entrepreneurship, I got to interact with new friend where we read a book on entrepreneurship: Disciplined Entrepreneurship Workbook by Bill Aulet. This encounter was great! This entrepreneuship programme at Dunin-Deshpande Queen's Innovation Center sponsored by the Mastercard Foundation has really helped my colleagues and I. It was really an eye-opener into the world of entrepreneuship and to ensure that we have everything we need to thrive in our entrepreneuship journey to make massive positive (social) impact on the society.

    • Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi

      Nov 2021 - Sept 2023

Throughout my one year mandatory national service under the Sustainable Energy Service Center (SESC-KNUST), Kumasi-Ghana, I was able to acquire and hone both new and existing skills. Research focused on developing a renewable energy map for KNUST is mainly what I worked on in addition to community engagements on other projects. Also, I was engaged in energy audits, framing and development of innovative ideas revolving around renewable energy and its systems. In its entirety, I had a great exposure and experience for which I am and would always be grateful for. Show less Petroleum Engineering is a very interesting field of study. My quest to understand where hydrocarbons come from and eagerness to help improve sustainability and optimization in the Oil and Gas Industry whilst preserving our environment led and motivated me towards studying in this field. Day-in-day-out as I learn new ideas do come up with respect to the above and I believe that my trajectory does and would impact both the Petroleum Industry and our Environment (specifically, our climate and air conditions). As we move towards Carbon Neutrality with regards to the Paris Agreement and more, the Oil and Gas Industry still remains relevant especially in Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage Technology (CCUS), manufacturing of petroleum-based products that have no immediate alternative, successful deployment of some renewable energy equipment in offshore environments. Without the relevant and needed knowledge and skills from the Oil and Gas Industry, offshore deployment of some renewable energy equipment would have swollen a large amount of resources to accomplish them. Also, in agricultural perspectives, with 10 billion people on Earth in 2050, a baseline scenario from the World Resources Institute projects that greenhouse gas emissions from food systems measured in CO2 equivalents will be 15 gigatons per year. To stay below a 2 Degree Celsius rise in temperature, we need those emissions to be only 4 gigatons per year. The criteria for the Transformation of the Global Food System as experts say, might not work 100% as expected. Therefore the need for Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage Technology (CCUS) to help reach the Carbon Neutrality Goal by 2050 for a sustainable climate. The above are few reasons and inspirations that guided me to read petroleum engineering and the journey has so far been amazing. Show less As the President or Representative of the Students with Disabilities Association (SWDA) on KNUST Campus, I forsee and participate actively towards the Welfare of Students with disABILITIES on KNUST Campus. SWDA-KNUST is an organization of both students with special needs and others without special needs that work together to make KNUST a place where "disABILITIES are turned into ABILITIES." This organization is recognised under the KNUST Disabilty Policy 0011, Section 9.5. # Under the 'ADD MEDIA Section' below, there is a link for downloading a free copy of the KNUST Disability Policy.Together with major stakeholders in KNUST, SWDA-KNUST is making KNUST into a place where disABILITIES are turned into ABILITIES! Show less As the KNUST SRC Diversity & Inclusion Officer (In Charge of Students with Disabilities), I ensured the Inclusion of Students with Disabilities into all relevant KNUST SRC Programmes. Also, I worked with other offices and committees in the KNUST SRC to address challenges faced by Students with Disabilities on KNUST Campus. Resolving issues of Students with Disabilities on Campus has always been dear to my heart and I am motivated by the ideas and concepts captured in the KNUST Disability Policy 2018 - KNUST Policy 0011.disABILITY is indeed not inABILITY. Together, the KNUST SRC through the KNUST SRC Diversity & Inclusion Office (for SWDs) also worked with the Students with Disabilities Association on Campus (SWDA-KNUST) to empower Students with Disabilities for the life ahead of them (after graduation). Few months ago, I found in my email a very interesting challenge: "Financial Times & Seedstars Team Up For The SDG Challenge." Motivated by getting solutions and implementing them for the accomplishment of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), I applied for the FT×SDG Talent Challenge organised by Financial Times & Seedstars. Being a part of 60 finalists out of 4500+ applications globally was a great privilege.I was a part of a wonderful, diverse, inclusive and multinational team of individuals from six countries. We worked on a project focused on using technology to resolve deforestation in the Amazon whilst creating avenues for socioeconomic development: The Amazon Forest is a critical ecosystem in combating climate change and needs to be protected as such.Despite our varying time zones, we were very committed to our project. Kudos to Emelie Andersson (Team Representative), Adrien Wang K.H. 王康豪, Alexandr Iscenco, Olivia Dianina Purba and Sebastian Croé.The experience was amazing and we all are now a part of the FT Talent Challenge Alumni to continue contributing our ideas, knowledge and talents towards making this world a better place for all. This training (both in-person and virtual) and fellowship has led to a deeper understanding and appreciation of the agricultural and food systems value chain, and agri-tech. This has engrossed my understanding and contribution to the role of innovation in this space and sector, amongst linkages to other areas such as social and financial inclusion, one health, climate change and action, their interconnectednesss and beyond. Resulting from this, did I join colleagues to form an agri-processing startup by name BES Veggie, which qualified into KIC Pro in 2022, and now, a contributory allocation, also to the Go Green Smart Biogas Technology (SBT) Project. The future of agricultural and food systems value chain is technology-enabled, not solely technology-led.Embrace that future now, be not left behind, for you are what you eat - Thus, be a part of the contributory process of how food comes about and reaches your table!
