      Environmental Geologist

Phase I/II Environmental Assessments: Project Geologist for environmental site assessments for various projects including schools, medical facilities, communication towers and leaking underground storage tank sites, sampling of contaminated soil and groundwater, and installing groundwater monitoring wells.Landfill Assessments: Project Geologist for an extensive hydrogeological assessment for proposed expansion of a landfill, which included determining groundwater hydraulics, developing potentiometric maps (rock and water), calculating flow velocities, water levels and rainfall data; aiding in the development of a revised groundwater monitoring plan researching site and regional geology to aid in understanding the groundwater system at the site; creating hydrogeologic cross-sections to show vertical and horizontal components of groundwater flow beneath two landfills; constructing hydrographs from river aiding in constructing and analyzing groundwater concentrations for organic and inorganic chemistry data; sampling soil and groundwater; installing piezometers and monitoring wells.Soils Engineering: Conducted geotechnical investigations using rotary drill and hollow stem auger systems, test pits, and hand auger methods to analyze and classify subsurface soil conditions. Also performed standard proctor analyses, California Bearing Ratio (CBR) analyses, moisture content tests, in-situ density, resistivity, consolidation, pH, Atterburg Limits, sieve analyses, permeability analyses, and several types of triaxial shear tests to determine the shear strength and load capability of in-situ soils. These shear tests included unconsolidated-undrained, confined-undrained, and unconsolidated-confined analyses. Testing equipment experience with soil resistivity meters, nuclear gauges, pacometers and numerous laboratory devices. Show less

    • The RETEC Group, Inc.

      Jun 1999 - Mar 2013
      Sr. Project Manager

Program Manager of large remediation program for 10 former manufactured gas plant (MGP) sites regulated under HSRA in Georgia and EPA-Region 4 in Florida (2005-2008). Responsibilities include managing all aspects of program, including but not limited to: developing and managing investigation and remediation activities for: excavation of soils, in-situ chemical oxidation (using Modified Fenton’s Reagent and potassium permanganate), in-situ solidification, groundwater pump-and treat systems, enhanced bioremediation (via oxygen diffusion and ORC®), investigation and dredging of river sediments; site investigations; feasibility studies; Fate and Transport Modeling; Ecological and Human Health Risk Assessments; ecological toxicity studies; Compliance Status Report, Remedial Investigation Report, and CAP preparation; CAP implementation; managing resources, schedules, and budgets; and client, regulatory, and stakeholder relations. Responsibilities also include developing closure strategies for each site and Cost Liability estimates to predict client’s short and long-term total environmental liabilities, in accordance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Estimated yearly cost of program ranged from approximately $1M to $4.5M, dependant on client focus. Show less

    • AECOM Environment

      Jul 1999 - Mar 2013
      Sr. Project Manager

Primary focus is on managing investigation and remediation of large and groups of former MGP sites; includes soil, sediment, and groundwater remediation. Technologies included but not limited to bioremediation, in-situ groundwater and soil technologies, excavation, slurry excavation. Groundwater remediation included both soil and bedrock aquifers.

    • National Grid

      May 2008 - Jun 2011
      Project Manager

Insourced PM for SIR Dept. Managed investigation and remediation of former MGP and associated sites. Primary focus were sites on Long Island, NY. Remediation on one large site involved groundwater remediation via in-situ chemical oxidation (ozone, ISCO), bioremediation (oxygenation), soil remediation via excavation in several operable units with various soil support technologies to various depths. Soil remediation also included relocating and excavating soils under LIRR tracks. Site closure (No Further Action) was achieved on two projects. Show less
