  Attended International Baccalaureate trainings in order to implement the Diploma Programme and Middle Years Programme into the Mission Bay cluster schools. Prepared teachers for implementation of the IB Programmes. Facilitated staff developments. Participated in articulations for recruitment of the IB programmes at both schools. Hosted the IB authorization team at Mission Bay High for which we are currently awaiting word on authorization. Worked collaboratively with administrators, counselors, teachers and support staff to successfully implement both programs. Communicated effectively with International Baccalaureate and the sub region, IB North America, in order to implement quality programmes. Planned lessons intertwining the Areas of Interaction within the classroom curriculum.   International Baccalaureate Diploma and Middle Years Coordinator

  International Baccalaureate is an organization that offers a rigorous, consistent high school education for students. In order to be an IB School, each must have a coordinator who is knowledgeable and can implement the program by sending teachers to training, facilitating professional development and working with the local IB, which for the U.S. is International Baccalaureate Americas. As the IB Diploma coordinator my responsibilities include registering students for exams, providing support materials for teachers, acting as a support system for students, coordinate the Extended Essay and Creativity, Action and Service, find and register teachers for workshops, mail all internal and external assessments, plan for the IB Art examiner visit, organize and plan for IB exams, along with many other responsibilities. My job as the IB Middle Years Coordinator includes meeting regularly with all teachers of grades 6-10 for planning, finding and sending teachers to IB workshops, implementation and organization of the personal project, along with many other responsibilities.   School Counselor, IB Diploma and Advanced Placement Coordinator

  As a counselor of students in grades eight through twelve, I work with students in a social emotional, one-on-one counseling capacity, as well as on academic counseling. I organize college visits and on-site admissions visits at my school, in addition to working with students to investigate the college process. Mediation is a regular part of my job in working together with students to create a positive school community. In addition, I organize and facilitate all aspects of the IB Diploma Programme and recently began implementation of the Advanced Placement program as my district is phasing out IB. I bring both the counselor role and the curriculum coordinator role together for program of studies planning, education of faculty and counselors on course sequencing and recommendations of students into the IB and AP Programs.   As a shared Vice Principal at Dana Middle School (grades 5/6) and Correia Middle School (grades 7/8) in the Point Loma Cluster, Kate's focus was on increasing alignment across the schools and ensure the culture and vision are consistent from grades five through eight and beyond to help students find success and opportunity. In addition, Kate works with students daily using the Restorative Practices approach, observe and evaluate teachers, facilitate professional development, act as the community liaison at both schools, including military liaison, collaborate with local universities and organizations to provide mentoring and support for students, and create structures to provide positive, systematic change for the schools to support student achievement.
