Plan, develop, budget and direct implementation of climate action and sustainability programs for county government operations as well as countywide.Partnered with 2 neighboring municipalities, the regional electric utility provider and regulatory agencies to craft and pass groundbreaking state legislation in 2019 that requires the electric utility to develop new renewable energy assets to deliver net 100% renewable electrical energy to 22 Utah communities with that goal by 2030. Collaborated with 2 ski resorts, 2 neighboring municipalities, a university and the electric utility provider to procure net 100% renewable electricity for our collective operations from a new solar resource sited in rural Utah by 2023, 7 years ahead of target.Conduct regular greenhouse gas emissions inventories and report progress toward emissions reduction goals: 80% below 2016 level by 2040 for government operations; 80% below 2014 countywide level by 2050.Implemented energy efficiency, alternative transportation fuels and renewable energy projects that decreased emissions of government operations in 2019 to 24% below the 2010 business-as-usual trajectory. • Engaged stakeholders and developed a Climate Action Plan of implementation strategies to meet countywide emissions reduction goal of 15% below 2015 level by 2030.• Co-founded Summit Community Power Works, a public/private nonprofit organization that engaged community members to replace 100,000 incandescent bulbs with LED light bulbs over 2-year period (2015-2016) and continues to administer energy efficiency public engagement and education in schools, residences and businesses throughout Summit County.
