This is my dream job! Legacy Hopewell House Hospice Center is an 11 bed specialty hospital serving hospice/terminally ill patients who require in-patient level of care (GIP). We provide compassionate care to patients and their families who have complex medical needs (including pain management, management of severe nausea/vomiting/bowel obstruction, wounds care, respiratory distress and/or delirium/agitation). We do our best to make our unit as homelike as possible - our beds have quilts, we have cots if families wish to spend the night (with quilts), breakfast is cooked to order for families and patients who are able to eat, and we have really good coffee (thank you Stumptown Roasters). We have donations of pastry from Starbucks and Baker and Spice, pizza from Lucky Labrador Pub and soup from Marco's. We have lots of fresh flowers (thanks to the Bloom Project), we have amazing volunteers who do everything from answer the phone to helping with patient care, we even have a harpist who plays on Saturdays. We have lovely gardens, a covered patio and a fountain; when the weather is nice we can take patients outside, bed and all. Our rooms look out over gardens and trees yet we are 10 minutes from downtown Portland. Hopewell House is the most amazing place I have ever worked and I am so lucky to be on their staff. Show less
