      Validation of the function of Klarsicht in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Able to differentiate between male and female drosophila under a microscope Capable of performing a dissection to expose the brain of a drosophila larva, fix the exposed brain and mount it on a slide. Capable of performing a dissection to expose drosophila larvae neuromuscular junctions, fix the dissected larvae and mount them on a slide. Capable of transferring adult drosophila from old to new vials when vial conditions deteriorate.  Capable of critically reading, understanding and assessing the quality of research papers. Capable of evaluating scientific presentations and forming useful questions for the presenter.       I designed and hosted public engagement event for all ages at the National Museum of Scotland. With the audience participating we explained the insidious nature of artherosclerosis and acted out the events that unfold in health, plaque rupture and resolution. These scenarios demonstrated the value of disease monitoring using the fluorescent SmartProbes I work with in my PhD research. Children enjoyed the choreography and adults were intrigued by descriptions of the pathophysiological details and the technology. Show less
