Baselining to steer and evidence the impact of a landscape-scale floodplain restoration scheme, identifying and characterising sources of pollution, and evidencing the performance of nature-based treatment systems at improving water quality. My role will help in understanding catchments and pollution sources in order to identify and develop solutions to improve river system functioning and health. Develop and deliver a monitoring strategy to evidence the impact of the new Tideway tunnel on reducing sewage derived plastic pollution in the tidal Thames and work with EU partners to evaluate the effectiveness of different methods for plastic removal from the Thames foreshore. Identify current backwater locations in the Maidenhead to Teddington catchment using GIS analysis, assess their current conditions, and create a catchment plan for backwater restoration across the catchment.
