      I worked for Network Rail on the West Coast Mainline Route Modernisation Project for a year, based in both the Crewe and Manchester offices as part of a Year in Industry placement. The role involved creation and testing of timetables for the West Coast Mainline requiring collaboration with teams situated around the country to ensure financial and performance targets were achieved.As part of a Year in Industry placement I worked in the WCRM sponsor team; a jointly established team of timetable planners delivering timetable outputs necessary to demonstrate Railtrack’s compliance with its commitments to all Train Operating Companies.       I have transferred internally at Atkins and now work in the Aerospace Division as a Project Manager within the Landing Gear Framework contract with Airbus UK. Show less I work within the ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) division of Atkins and have worked in a number of roles covering technical design to project management, primarily on projects for the Highways Agency. Principally, my work uses technology to improve the utilisation and efficiency of the UK motorway network, aiming to reduce congestion and improve journey time reliability.• Project managed the development of the communications design for the upgrade of a major junction on the M6 including client and stakeholder liaison;• Assistant Project Manager on a £1.4M scheme that met deadlines, deliverable and budget requirements including client and stakeholder liaison;• Design Engineer on large scale projects, having input to all elements of the design with the view to minimising cost, resources used and environmental impact over the life of the equipment;• Negotiated an increased budget and associated deliverables for a project extension;• Created a ‘Handover into Maintenance Procedure’ to be adhered to throughout the Atkins, Intelligent Transport Systems Business Unit;• Created design tools to assist in the development, analysis and completion of non-standard designs;• Following analysis of designs from other areas within the Atkins Group, recommended and implemented significant changes on safety and maintainability groups;• Identified areas where changes to current design standards and methods could realise significant cost savings without sacrificing safety or operational requirements;• Developed staff through coaching, task assigning and providing support in necessary areas;• Selected for involvement in the ‘Atkins Graduate Forum;’ an investigative group intended to identify area for improvement in Graduate recruitment, development and retention across the Atkins Group.
