Completed Naval basic training over 3 months, Marine basic infantry training over 6 months, 3 month deployment in an operational sector combating insurgents, and 9 months of harbour protection duty. Spent the last 3 months of service as a member of the private protection unit for the Admiral of the SA Navy. Played in the Naval Head Office Rugby team at the annual Naval Week Rugby tournament.
