      I completed a summer internship at Clasado Research Services Ltd located in the Reading Enterprise Centre in the University of Reading. Clasado BioSciences are developers and manufacturers of unique prebiotic technologies. Most notably the patent protected second generation galactooligosaccharide (GOS) Bimuno®.During my work experience I produced two literature searches and reviews on:•Processing techniques involved in the production of GOS powder and separation techniques employed.•Methodologies to purify the final product to increase the GOS purity through removal of by-products (i.e. glucose). •Performed a range of statistical analysis on laboratory data to better understand the structural characterisation of the products sold.       • I collaborated with a research group within the University of Bologna called ‘Memlab’ in a European project called ‘NanoMemc2’ which focused on developing innovative materials and methods for carbon capture storage applications.• My main activities were to develop and test new materials for their performance and evaluate the results to identify their potential in future industrial applications.
