      Team member

      Jul 2022 - Sept 2022
      Retail assistant

Most significantly, I helped to improve the response rate for the Primark feedback research slips in my department by encouraging my colleagues to focus on the demographics of the customers they were choosing to fill out the questionnaire. This immediately increased the response rate in the feedback survey within my department which was then used to better understand shopping patterns in our store and consequently increase sales through product suggestions. Working in the flagship store in Central London, I served and built a rapport with a large influx of diverse customers, using my detailed knowledge of the store and its products to aid customers in their shopping experience and build customer loyalty. As well as strengthening my interpersonal communication skills when facing issues such as culture and language boundaries.I consistently liaised with other departments and co-workers to ensure the upkeep of the organisation and function of the store which was vital given its size. This required the development and exercising of my leadership and initiative skills to effectively tackle any unexpected issues such as difficult customers and missing stock. Show less

I volunteer within my academic department at University to act as a peer mentor for a small group of incoming freshers. Throughout their first year, I act as their first point of call for any academic or university-related queries and issues. I aid them in resolving their own queries by offering my first-hand knowledge of academic life and workshopping solutions with them. I also work closely with my department to help resolve any serious issues my mentees experience so that they may be signposted to the correct academic staff who can resolve issues that are outside of my reach, such as welfare and finance.Through this role, I gather data on the patterns in issues and questions incoming university students have and pass this on to my department which uses this data to improve university induction schemes. Show less Within my college community at Durham University I was selected to be a member of the volunteer 'college representatives' team as a welfare representative. As a member of the team, I worked closely with the other reps but specifically with the college heads of welfare to carry out an exciting and safe indication week for the incoming first-year students. As a welfare representative, I attended multiple training sessions on issues such as consent, being an active bystander, and alcohol safety to ensure that I was able to appropriately address any serious welfare issues that arise through signposting and restorative conversations. By applying this training we were able to successfully safeguard and protect the well-being of both the freshers and also our wider team of freshers representatives so that the week-long event was a safe and exciting success. Within this role, I routinely practiced clear and effective communication and task delegation to ensure that the team was able to quickly respond to any welfare problems ranging from anxiety to alcohol overconsumption. Research intern

During my time as an intern at changing relations I independently conducted a desk based digital review and market research to provide the company with an executive review that highlighted the innovative and unique nature of their ‘Rabbit in Headlights’ project that they were then able to use to help shape the development of their materials and present their project proposal to funders and relevant bodies.I independently carried out research into the existing tools and projects available for the purposes of the project using a systemic review protocol and mapping exercise to determine the extent to which the Changing Relation project offers an innovative tool.Utilising a systemic research approach and mapping exercise, I identified, collected, analysed and reviewed secondary qualitative data around the topic of domestic abuse intervention resources for children and their support workers to strategically position this project in the market and evidence the innovation and value of the project. Finally, I collated this information and conducted a detailed comparison between the RIH project and existing resources to produce an executive summary that outlined the unique and necessary features of this project and placed it in the wider context of domestic violence intervention resources.
