My main responsibility was revenue protection and customer service. Most shifts involved being positioned inside Cardiff Central Station and checking tickets, providing directions and answering general queries. I assisted with setting up. Arrives to direct flow of passenger traffic, ensuring that no one went through the barriers. Post event, I would manage one of the queues outside the station and permit entry onto the platform only when the relevant had arrived. Occasionally my role would change and have also been responsible, in my time with the company, for counting passengers into the train station as the disembarked, acting as a runner at the end the night to inform queue managers when a train had arrived, maintaining order within one of the car backs, ensuring that emergency vehicles had easy access, and acting as point of contact at the end of the night, being the conduit between the runner and the colleague based in the security room overseeing the whole station. On several occasions I was given the role of team leader, managing a team of five or six at one of the various locations, including Swansea station on several occasions.Whilst working for Sword I was also given the opportunity to work at Oxegen Festival in Ireland, confiscations contraband items and ensuring the safety of the festival goers by removing crowd surfers. I also attended meetings with claimants to discuss claims and a number of other topicsI arranged Team meetings: booking rooms and hospitality, distributing agendas, managing calendars and responses and booking accommodation where necessary. Finally I was able to attend a number of Tourism events, assisting with organising some aspects of some events and Managing one of the Visit Wales Roadshow events. Show less I processed application forms. The process began by sorting the mail and dividing all the applications received into the different types of forms. Then I would have to prepare the forms for scanning before scanning them onto the system. Next I used Corrections software to determine the value of numbers and letters where the software could not recognise the word or number. Finally I used Validations software to review the complete application form to ensure that the software had picked up and recognised every word and number the applicant had written.I trained several new starters during this post and my contract was extended to assist the team as they relocated to new offices. This role also involved some reception duties.
