      Teach and coordinate the running of the Bachelor of Art Degree in Graphic Design.An EducatorShelly’s passion for design extends to her ability to educate young minds on the art of design communication. Shelly joined the Barbados Community College (BCC) in 1997 to teach on the undergraduate degree in Graphic Design. She has written and implemented courses currently being taught on the programme. The Department was voted as ‘Best Design School in 2008’ at the Caribbean Gift and Craft Show held by the Caribbean Export Development Agency. Shelly has an Associate Degree in Applied Arts from the BCC, a Bachelor of Art degree in Visual Communication from the University of Central England in Birmingham (now known as Birmingham City University), and an MA (Distinction) in Graphic Design from Nottingham Trent University.Shelly has lectured at four British Universities and has presented research on ‘The Symbiotic Relationship Between Magazine Culture and Subculture’. This research was presented at Nottingham Trent University, the University of Plymouth and the University of the West of England in Bristol. More recently she has taught at the University of Plymouth, England. Shelly was the curator for ‘Tasty Data’, a trans-cultural exhibition of selected works from the Barbados Community College and the University of Plymouth, exploring how data can be presented. This year she lectured on the 'Structuring Creativity' module at the University of Dundee (DJCAD), Scotland presenting an active Barbadian design culture of students and professionals entitled, 'Barbadian Landscape - Attitudes | Iconography | Vernacular | Lifestyle.       Pilot project - Encourage survivors of domestic abuse to report their situation, simultaneously targeting health care providers to exercise more empathy toward the victims. This small yet significant campaign includes the gay community, a huge step in the right direction, promoting a more tolerant society.

I have received a Silver Addy Award for some Collateral Material. BeautiCafé is a spa based in Florida targeted at a high end market. The client was heavily inspired by Baroque Art so actually my job was not too hard. Inspiration came from existing shapes.
