CMET is the only physcian specific organization in the United States providing certification for physicians (MD, DO, DPM) practicing wound healing. It is also the largest and most widely accepted physician specific certification in wound healing. This certification process took 4 years to develop from the time of its initial inception including two years of exam construction. The exam has been, peer reviewded and Beta tested with each question and answer assessed for testing psychometrics. It was written by practicing physicians in the field for practicing physicians. As such it generally is intended to reflect a knowledge base consistent with daily practice. To learn more about CMET visit our web site www.COUNCILmet.org or call 336-923-5065 or email to: info@COUNCILmet.org Show less

      Medical Director

As medical director I am involved with education (staff education, medical conferences, Insurance Industry, etc.) research and product development. The major focus of the company is compression therapy established 1975. We design, manufacture, package and ship all of our products from our home plant in Rural Hall, NC, USA (Winston Salem area). Our research over the past several years has been performed at North Carolina State University and continues to be published in peer reviewed, Medline indexed journals. Our research is fascinating because it has challenged a significant amount of previously considered basic principles of compression therapy and has led to new products to address these issues. Carolon as a company presents itself as the most informed company in the world on the dynamics of compression therapy and an informational resource for those interested in the same. We also develop and produce the very best products in the world and at extremely competitive prices because the fact that our product development and manufacturing, packaging and shipping is performed on one site which is a tremendous benefit for quality assurance. APWH is a only full service medical organization serving all prescribing physicians involved with wound healing in two major areas. First, unlike other organizations the Academy provides education that is physician oriented and emphasizes diagnosis and management of disease associated with chronic wound as well as treating the wound. Due to the fact that physicians are involved with diagnosis and management of patients their educational needs are different from other healthcare providers that are part of the wound care team. Secondly but as important is the fact that the APWH It provides advocacy for patients and advocacy for physicians to the insurance industry and governmental agencies. APWH provides physician perspective on issues affecting the delivery of health care. It is the only physician specific organization providing these services for patients suffering with complex and non-healing wounds in tthe US. Our congressional physician advocate initiative is one of many aspects that makes the APWH unique. The Academy serves as an informational resource to physicians, policy makers and industry.
