I currently work on the ADVANCE study which is a 20 year research project funded by the Ministry of Defence (MOD). The study aims to achieve an improved sustained transition into civilian life for present and future British military battlefield casualties by providing high level evidence of their long term cardiovascular, musculo-skeletal and other physical, mental health and psychosocial related outcomes. My role is based at both Kings College London and Headley Court Military Rehabilitation Hospital and involves recruiting participants for the study as well as providing administration assistance to the team. With a caseload of over 1200 potential participants to manage independently, many of the people I contact on a daily basis have experienced severe trauma and suffer from physical or psychological illness. It is, therefore, crucial to handle all correspondence and conversations with a high level of sensitivity, respect and professionalism. Show less I worked at the Kings Centre for Military Health Research on a project that studies the health and well-being of serving and ex-serving military personnel. It is a large scale, multi-phase epidemiological study and my role involved managing a caseload of over 2000 participants, recruiting people for the third phase of the project and following up with those who had taken part in previous years. In addition to general admin tasks, the role sometimes involved visiting various army units to aid the recruitment process of current serving personnel. I was also given the opportunity to assist with a systematic literature review on mental health for the Surgeon General. Show less
