  IPPA Intern

  As an IPPA intern, I worked on creating a dataset about the coal-related projects in five Central Asian countries (Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan) and Mongolia. This data collection is part of the Sustainable Infrastructure Program in Asia (SIPA), which is IPPA's largest current project. In collaboration with the OECD, SIPA promotes sustainable infrastructure in Central Asia and Mongolia through the Regional Knowledge Network for Sustainable Infrastructure in Central Asia (SIPA-CA). Through this project, IPPA will produce a "state of the art" paper on the transition of transport infrastructure towards decarbonization in the region. Additionally, IPPA will host regional dialogues on sustainable infrastructure, capacity development, and peer learning, including three summer schools for politicians and national institutions. In my role, I was researching and collecting data about coal projects in Central Asia. This involves studying the financial aspects of these coal projects, such as identifying which country, bank, or company is investing, providing loans or grants, and determining the amounts involved. Additionally, I examined how these investments and loans are facilitated despite the environmental challenges posed by coal projects. This research enhanced my understanding of the interplay between economic development and environmental sustainability. Show less

  Climate Forward Pakistan

  In my capacity as a Project Coordinator at Climate Forward Pakistan, a dynamic youth-led environmental organization has been instrumental in providing me with invaluable real-world experience and an opportunity to apply my academic knowledge. As project coordinator, I work on initiatives that amplify indigenous voices and address urgent climate issues, including glacier melting and environmental resilience. While working on the creation of a white paper, a youth status report, I have also engaged in various research-related tasks, such as data collection, literature reviews, and policy analysis, which have furthered my understanding of environmental issues and their real-world implications.Furthermore, CFP has created Pakistan's first ever Children and Youth Advisory Board (CYAB). Children and Youth Advisory Board (CYAB) operates with a clear mandate. The CYAB envisions empowering and engaging children and youth across the nation to actively participate in climate action. The mission is to collaboratively amplify their voices, contribute innovative solutions, and advocate for policies addressing the challenges posed by climate change in Pakistan. I am serving as the Secretary of CYAB,, where I serve as a liaison between the CYAB and Secretariat. I facilitate communication, coordinate meetings, and ensure collaboration.Additionally, I've had the chance to collaborate with experts, attend workshops, and participate in advocacy efforts, enriching my academic journey by bridging the gap between theory and practice. These experiences have not only enhanced my academic and research skills but have also contributed to my personal and professional development as a university student. Show less
