      Ganga Medical Centre and Hospital is a specialty hospital for Trauma, Orthopedics, Plastic, Hand and Micro Surgery. During this posting I was exposed to patients who needed special care following a trauma. Being in a trauma based hospital I was exposed to a lot of post operative orthopedic reconstruction and neuro-surgical(Specifically Stroke) patients who needed rehabilitations. The Ganga Spine and rehabilitation Centre for the stroke patients gave a good insight, how to rehabilitate patients with stroke or TBI. The posting taught us how to approach a patient who have undergone Physical and Psychological trauma and how to effectively rehabilitate them both Physically and mentally. The group rehabilitation encouraged a lot of patients to move forward in life. It taught me the value of life, how small mistakes can contribute to big consequences and how one person can make a huge difference in another person's (Patients) life. Got exposure to a lot of hand reconstruction rehabilitation and plastic surgery rehabilitation following burns or trauma. Show less

During this posting I not only got the experience by treating the children but also learnt how to modify the infrastructure to suit their needs. I also learnt the difficulties of the patients, their care takers and the physio’s them self, the challenges one must face to get into a normal life. The posting also taught me that evidence based practice in Pediatrics is the key to obtain the best results. The posting focused on teaching techniques such a Neuro Developmental Therapy, Play therapy, Music therapy, Sensory integration and team work with other health care workers such a occupational therapist and speech therapist to obtain the best results from the patient.
