Other criteria include: - Technical aspects of a project: students show an understanding of the fundamentals of the project while employing hands-on activities- Non-technical: teamwork, goal setting, execution, problem-solving skills, communication, results, and articulation of the broader context of the project"We had an excellent experience collaborating with the MSE Senior Design Class. From the very beginning, we received clear information about the course structure and expectations. For our project, we were fortunate to work with three outstanding seniors who utilized UCD facilities for fabrication, testing, and verification of the hardware they developed. The team quickly became a valuable asset. All three students participated wholeheartedly, took the time to understand the complexity of the project, and asked insightful questions to ensure success. Their dedication and hard work resulted in a product that exceeded our expectations. The outcome was so impressive that we offered employment to one of the students at Stellar Engiine—and truly wished we could have hired all three. When Stellar Engiine was awarded a SBIR Phase I Grant by the NSF, expert reviewers initially considered partnering with UCD seniors to be a high risk for a startup. However, Professor Saeidi and the student team proved them wrong by delivering the right solution, on time and with exceptional quality. This project’s success paved the way for the next phase of our program. We greatly benefited from this collaboration and look forward to participating in the program again next year."- Stellar Engiine Show less
