      As the Structural Engineer of Team Garud, I was responsible for designing and fabrication of Rocket body emphasizing on all the subassembly along with the aerodynamic aesthetics.• Our sounding rocket, named 'Kalam', dedicated to the missile man of India, Dr A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, stands 3.5 meters tall, with the parabolic nose-cone, body tube, couplers and bulkheads fabricated of Carbon Fibre with an altitude range of 10,000 feet AGL and top speed up to 1 Mach. The sounding rocket carries an 8.8-pound scientific payload integrated with a sensor subsystem demonstrating ways of extraterrestrial rover landings. • About Team Garud: Garud is the Rocketry Division of UPES, Dehradun and India's first team to successfully launch a sounding rocket (in 2013) at the World's Largest Rocket Engineering Competition - Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition (IREC). Team Garud is financially and technically sponsored by Larsen and Toubro EWAC, Endeavor Engineering (Ahmedabad) and University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (Dehradun). • About IREC: IREC sees participation from universities all across the globe such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), École de Technologie Supérieure, Concordia University etc. in building and launching sounding rockets from scratch. Held at Spaceport America (SA), New Mexico, USA, IREC is conducted by Experimental Sounding Rocket Association (ESRA), SpaceX, Virgin Galactic, Northrop Grumman, Space Dynamics Laboratory, Spaceport America Cup etc. Show less
