      As a member of the Naval Safety Center located on the Norfolk Naval Base, Norfolk VA, I lead a team of 10 senior enlisted maintenance professionals conducting Aviation Safety Surveys for Navy and Marine Corps aviation units with the purpose of assessing a unit's adherence to and awareness of safety methodologies as it applies to aviation maintenance programs, processes and policies. Survey focus is in the areas of quality assurance, communication, training, supervision, operational risk management, safety programs and standard operating procedures in an effort to mitigate or eliminate the hazards of day to day operations.• Conducted unit level executive briefs which establish survey team objectives, intent, and post-survey findings to include recommended corrective action and command climate review. More specifically, I provide commanders an assessment of their unit's maintenance practices, habits, tendencies, and overall safety climate, achieving increased awareness of safety hazards and corresponding preventive strategies.• Provided an evaluation of maintenance program effectiveness and efficiency as it pertains to mission readiness. • Provided motivational guidance and training to Navy and Marine Corps maintenance personnel to include the principals and techniques of safety management as it applies to the prevention of mishaps in the workplace. • Conducted operational risk management training presentation communicating mishap data, prevention strategies, and causal factors to Navy and Marine Corps units fleet wide.
