  Singing has seasoned my life for many decades. I currently sing with the HU Big Band at Grand Rapids Original Swing Society events down on Rosa Parks Circle. I also sing with a jazz combo, The Mood Swings. Shimmie Pearl is our cover band that gets to play music that we love from the past few decades at lots of different venues around our fine state. Besides my own personal songwriting projects, I have written/recorded music for Soundpost Studios, SchoolZone and Hark UP. If you've been around Grand Rapids since the 80's, you would have seen me perform in Charade, Something Cool, The Hip Pocket, The Sandy Bottom Beach Band, and various pick up bands that include combinations of musicians from all of those. I spent many years as a lead vocalist and support staff for the Hark Up Christmas show. I've performed with choral groups, worship teams, and as a soloist in various church settings. Show less

  As a teacher: I taught preschool/kindergarten in a Montessori setting, which included setting up my classroom, evaluating the individual needs of students and applying those observations to the materials and activities of the classroom.   As a member of the Creative Team at Soundpost Studios, I create music and ad copy, sing and do voice over work. During one of my more extensive projects at Soundpost, I wrote music (as part of the creative team) for the Schoolzone company which they paired with the latest version of their reading books for early elementary children.   Most currently, I am a lead singer for the Hark Up Horns Big Band which provides live music for the Grand Rapids Original Swing Society. I've also served as a Lead Vocalist and on the Creative Team for the annual Christmas production, Hark-Up. I have written music for the production, ads for production, assisted with vocal coaching of other singing teams and assisted with music selection. Also participated in various worship teams and public events.

  As a Mentor Mom, I am privileged to walk alongside 7 other young moms who are just beginning to learn about motherhood and what it means to build a life for yourself and your family. As a mother for over 20 years and being a little further along the road, sometimes I get to add perspective to the journey. Even though I've officially stepped back from my role...I will forever be available to them as their mentor mom!

  DONA International Postpartum Certified Doula

  As a Postpartum Doula I served women and their families in West Michigan as they welcomed home a brand new baby. I loved this work! I am certified as a Postpartum Doula through DONA, Intl. in the latest evidence-based information all things baby: infant care, bonding, sleep strategies, breastfeeding support and troubleshooting, infant safety, depression screening, healthy recovery of infant and mother, education on reading babies cues and understanding various stages. I help with developing strategies that work for you to make your home environment work for your new situation. I also offer help with running errands, light housework, cooking and occasional sibling support. I have many resources to share with parents that will assist them should they need continued support in an area beyond my scope of practice.I promote:Working together...by collaborating with parent(s) to understand how I can best serve their needs and make a plan.Belonging...by facilitating the entire family with the process of bonding with the baby.Nurturing...by helping mother and baby begin the process of recovery from the birth experience.Empowerment...by encouraging confidence through providing evidence-based information, resources, strategies and teaching new skills and understandings.Grace...by serving with confidentiality and freedom from judgment.I hope to take a team approach as we work together to get your family off to a great start!   www.adventuremusic.orgAdventure Music is a non-profit started in 2015 in response to the changing music industry. We collaborate with musicians who tend to avoid the mainstream and place them in unique venues to provide musical experiences and immersions in West Michigan. The first of our projects is The Underground Series which brings together art and music in an intimate way, one enhancing the other. LaFontsee Gallery hosts these events, Lazaro Vega of Blue Lake Radio curates the music. Show less
