  Stress engineer

  • Worked on a project involving the safety evaluation of a new hinge component for the Airbus A350• Performed stress calculations for the components given by the client and to evaluate whether the components are safe for operation and the likelihood of failure. Taking the geometry of the part into account and the loading data given, the factor of safety primarily in bending and shear was extensively calculated using the Airbus stress tool and Excel macros.• Formulated reports based on the results to determine whether this keel beam hinge component is accepted or recalculated with design modification. These reports formed a part of the stress dossier for the given component which detailed all its failure criteria under all possible given loads. Show less

  • Optimized the performance of a steel reheating furnace for SMSVC consortium which included the likes of US Steel, Cleveland Cliff, Nucor, etc.• Used ANSYS Fluent to model the use of hydrogen as fuel in furnaces instead of natural gas to achieve complete decarbonization.• Analyzed the use of staged combustion for such hydrogen fueled furnaces to reduce NOx emissions by 10%.• Refined the combustion processes by use of regenerative burners which were shown to increase the productivity of the furnace by 15%.
