  Honours Project

  For my honours project, I investigated the mechanistic role of DHX9 in homologous recombination of double-strand breaks (DSB) induced by camptothecin. I then conducted a literature review with data analysis. The data from the fluorescence imaging experiments was analysed using ImageJ to determine the expression of DHX9 in DSB-induced cells and the recruitment of DSB proteins by DHX9.Achieved 90% (1st) for the thesis/project write-up.

  As a lab demonstrator, I learned various laboratory techniques and their relative SOPs and risk assessments. Along with the senior demonstrator, I assisted the life sciences undergraduates with handling the lab equipments as well as practical techniques. I also made sure that students follow GLP and ‘health and safety’ guidelines provided by the university. As a lab technician assistant, I set up and prepared lab practicals for the undergraduates (e.g. cell dispensing, putting out lab materials, etc.). After each lab session, I dispose of waste materials/liquids following provided disposal guidelines and made sure that the lab clean and organized. Show less

Investigating the drug-plant extract interactions in HEK293 cells using a inhibition assay at the Department of Clinical Pharmacology. Examining the inhibition of botanical extracts on the cellular uptake of ASP+ through OCT2 and OCT3. The title of the project is 'Bioengineered Human Myocardium in a Multi-well Format for Phenotypic Drug Screening’ at the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, UMG.

  At CiRA, Kyoto University, conducted a project on “Integration of proteomics and transcriptomics data on iPSCs survival in a population”. Aimed to examine the heterogeneity of iPSCs among individuals which limits the use of iPSCs in research including disease modelling ans drug therapy. Utilised R programming language to visualise the gap between the gene expression from transcriptomics and protein abundance from mass specs from two recent studies.

  Analysing the phenotypes of Human unilocular vascularized adipocyte spheroids (HUVAS) and examining LDLR expression in adipose tissue in relation to obesity related disease. Confocal imaging and functional assays were mainly used. Also working on the bioinformatics project where I analysed the RNA sequencing data of whole spheroids with the cholesterol regulation. In addition, the publicly available data of bulk RNA sequencing and single-cell sequencing were analysed to examine the gene expression associated with insulin resistance between lean and obese adipocytes. This work is being carried out in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, Department of Medicine, Karolinska Institute.Presented the project at Division Seminar, Karolinska Institutet on 20.04.24.
