I was responsible for assisting with safe navigation and handling of LNG tankers throughout a period of rapid growth for the company, with the LNG fleet growing from 1 to 10 vessels. During this period, I developed expertise with both steam and DFDE propulsion systems and both NO96 and GTT Mark 3 style cargo tanks. I assisted with incident investigations, using root cause analysis to establish causes and introduce measures to prevent recurrence. ◼️ Achieved swift promotion from Cadet to 3rd then 2nd Officer as a result of absorbing technical knowledge and exceeding expectations, one of few 2nd Officers qualified to sail both oil and gas vessels. ◼️ Led project to develop comprehensive, vessel-specific emergency response plans for new vessel ‘Asia Energy’, subsequently incorporated into SMS and adopted as best practice for all vessels in class.◼️ Instrumental in optimising and elevating content / format of multiple courses and crew training programmes at new ‘Centre of Excellence’ training centre, including provision of pre-course booklet covering basic principles prior to each course, significantly reducing time spent covering basic concepts. ◼️ Assisted with LNG gas ups of terminal operations in Australia (2014) and Angola (2013), successfully completing gas-up operations and bringing terminals online on schedule.◼️ As Safety Officer, led incident investigation crew member injury, successfully pinpointing multiple operational, procedural and human factors that led to cascade failure and introducing measures to prevent recurrence.
