Specifically, I pioneered an approach for recording acoustic emissions that joints produce during articulation. These acoustic biomarkers could diagnose and monitor musculoskeletal pathologies, injuries, and their rehabilitation. This work demonstrated that the sounds do contain clinically relevant information, and the data and designs generated has resulted in 8 national conference presentations, 3 patents, and 12 publications. I earned my PhD while working on this project under Dr. Omer Inan. My thesis was entitled "Anatomy of a Joint Sound: Using Joint Acoustic Emissions To Diagnose and Grade Musculoskeletal Disease and Injury". Furthermore, my research's success has fostered opportunities for others in the field. I have mentored 8 graduate and 6 undergraduate students who are researching in this field using my data as a foundation. Show less

I help ease the transition to college from high school for a group of 22 males in each year's entering freshman class. I live on the hall with them, enforce rules, and plan/coordinate programs aimed to further their development as young leaders of the future. I led a twice weekly class review session under the guidance of the Student Succes Department of Georgia Tech and the math department. I was responsible for planning a lesson and creating interactive lessons to enhance students understanding of Calculus 1 and Calculus 2. I also expanded the program to cover Calculus 3 classes in an effort to assist more undergraduates.

      Committee Member and Web Designer

I have been a part of the AJ Donohue Foundation since its inception in 2006. The charity's namesake was one of my best friends in high school. He lost his battle to bone cancer at 17 years old. Since then, his brother, Luke Donohue, established the 501c3 charity with the mission to (1) support institutions providing care to victims of pediatric cancer, (2) award scholarships to those who provide care to pediatric cancer patients; and (3) uplift families of children with cancer. I have worked closely with Luke and the foundation as a committee member and web developer for the last 15 years. Together, we have hosted an annual golf tournament among other fundraising efforts and have grown the foundation while honoring the wishes of AJ. Losing my friend to cancer has been a principle motivation behind my pursuing a career in medicine and has led me to live a life of gratitude for all the opportunities and time that I have been given. Post-Doctoral Researcher

Worked in the Inan Research Lab at Georgia Tech to design wearable sensors for joint health. I designed a cadaver knee injury model and translated these findings into clinic via correlated MRI findings.
