      For its first 50 years Northrop Corporation operated primarily as a holding company with each operating element responsible for its own operations and its commitments to the corporate office relative to profitability. That philosophy changed realtive to security with the creation of the first Corporate Director of Security position in 1987. As Northrops's first Head of Security across the entire corporation, Mr. Mattice was responsible for consolidating and streamlining security operations and budgets, establishing security policy , security compliance oversight for all government classified programs, as well as , proprietary and non-classified programs and functioned as the company's lead government interface on all security related contract matters.
