  I worked on a civil and structural engineering project under a senior engineer to design suitable bracing against lateral forces to a fire station currently under construction in Durham. I led a team of five students in a cohort of several teams working with various engineering firms. My teams solution and presentation to a panel of senior engineers ranked top for our cohort.

  A first point of contact for Durham University applicants for which, during open days, my role would be to accommodate and advise, highlighting the culture, facilities and educational opportunities available. Duties ranged from being knowledgable about the university to simply being a welcoming face, representing what Durham University has to offer. This role involved organising the finances, funding and fees for the entirety of the Durham University Basketball Club, making use of the online accounting app Xero as well as Microsoft Excel. This involved being a mentor for a year 12 course designed to aid students from state-funded schools, academies and colleges interesting at applying for higher education at the top universities in the UK.
