My responsibilities range from ensuring the drivers in my team complete there nationally recognised Train Drivers competencies as well as there on line training, Cat 1 Medicals, any up skilling or training they may require as well as Annual leave and illness. I am also required to conduct investigations also using ICAM on incedents that occur. There is much more day to day operational duties that i cover, to much to list. Currently i have been identified as a Diversity Ambassador, and have done the training to facilitate the delivery of workshops to all employees in Aurizon. Show less During this time my Jilalan was short of train crew. To fix the situation we recruited quite a few experienced drivers, as well as trainee drivers. I was required to up skill the experienced drivers in the operation of our 3700 class locomotives as well as distributed power and the set up of these locomotives. I was also required to take them thru our safe working systems. I also RPLed the qualified drivers on our diesel clyde locomotives. With the trainee the process was quite thorough. We took the trainee drivers thru the whole process spending 12 weeks in a class room environment as well as six weeks on track having a good look at the safe working systems and the operation off all classes of Locomotives we use at Jilalan. Show less My responsibilities as a tutor driver ranged from bringing a trainee driver from the class room up to a fully fledged driver. This included teaching them the routes as well as good train handling skills, also taught them all they needed to know about the electric locomotives we where using at the time, also the diesel locomotives we where required to use in the shunting yard. We also covered all the knowledge on the network we where working on and all emergency procedures they where required to know. Show less I was originally trained in the operation of 3100/3300 class AC electric locomotives, and also 1700 thru to 2400 Class Clyde Locomotives. In the last 5 Years Aurizon has gone on to there 3700/3800 Class DC Locomotives with DP. I was required to drive these locomotives from our ports Haypoint & Dalrymple Bay west to Coppabella or if we where required to load i went as far as Riverside on one line Blair Athol on another line and Peak Downs on The other line, latter on Hail Creek was added and i also loaded trains at this mine. I have also drove several diesel grain trains, ballast trains and rail trains. In Jilalan i have used Clyde Locomotives to shunt in the yard. Show less
