      Freelance Mac Operator

While I was employed as a Freelance Mac Operator I worked in a variety of different workplaces, such as large print companies and advertising agencies. Due to my trade certificate in digital composition, I had a high level of the prepress and print process experience, which gave me a distinct advantage. While obtaining my design degree at Monash University, I would take Freelance Mac Operator work during my extended end of semester breaks. The cross over skills in both print and design complemented each other, which aided me in my freelance work and studies. Show less

    • Gollings+Pidgeon

      Jan 2002 - Nov 2002
      Junior Graphic Designer

This was my first design position I was employed in following me obtaining my tertiary qualifications. David Pidgeon and John Gollings both provided great creative direction and inspiration on many jobs that I was assigned to. Though I was a junior designer, I was fortunate to work on some large creative accounts. My time was short at the studio as I had already made plans to travel to London to pursue graphic design work.

    • Why Not Associates

      Jan 2003 - Nov 2003
      Graphic Designer Internship

While working as a graphic designer at a print business, I had the opportunity to secure an Internship Graphic Designer position at Why Not Associates. This particular design studio based in London is held in high esteem in the design industry. For the period of 10 months I would manage my fulltime print position while working at Why Not Associates as an intern. The internship was not a paid position, but I felt it was an invaluable experience to work in such a well-known critically acclaimed design studio. The experience I had there was a time that I truly value even to this day. Show less

While I was employed as a Freelance Graphic Designer I worked in a wide variety of different workplaces. • Amanda Roach Design

      May 2004 - May 2005
      Junior Graphic Designer

Working for Amanda Roach gave me a detailed experience as a Junior Graphic Designer in a studio that predominantly focuses on annual report documents. I got to work on the studios largest account, a 300pp annual report for a well-established Australian mining company. This particular account was high in its intensity and demanded the best creative and service that the studio could provide. The studio had a sophisticated internal protocol system that had to be adhered to at all times. My experience there taught me robust design process skills which I still follow to this day. Show less

    • Vetro Design Pty Ltd

      Dec 2005 - Nov 2011
      Midweight/Senior Graphic Designer

My time at Vetro Design gave a great opportunity to work in a close-knit team. As well as producing high-level design across a wide variety of platforms alongside a senior and a junior designer, I was also expected to aid in the running of the studio. I was heavily involved in client presentations, client liaison and management of suppliers. I was given opportunities to art direct photoshoots, both in studio and onsite. My time at Vetro Design gave me a great experience and understanding of how smaller design studios operate, and the opportunity to lead and guide our more junior designer on their career path. • MDM Design

      Nov 2011 - Feb 2019
Senior Graphic Designer & Studio Manager

As a Senior Graphic Designer I was responsible for the creation high-level design across a wide variety of corporate communications and brand identities, taking a brief from account managers then producing design concepts to finished artwork on both print and digital assets on a daily basis. As part of my role I was also involved in client presentation and managing suppliers to ensure projects were delivered on time and budget. In 2017, I was promoted with the additional role of Studio Manager, which required me to manage the running of the workflow of the studio. I would co-ordinate the weekly Work in Progress (WIPs), where I would allocate individuals the required jobs to be completed. As deadlines and workflow would change regularly, I would manage the resources of the studio to ensure deadlines were met. When needed, I would procure external resources (i.e. freelancers) and manage their timelines for our deadlines. The studio would have an ‘annual report season’ (approximately from June to October) and I would manage the production timeline for each annual report for the entire season. On average, there would be approximately 30 to 40 annual reports with varying production timelines that I would be responsible for, ensuring deadlines were met and any changes to timelines were allowed communicated to the design team.
