      I study master by research integrative neuroscience which comprises a wide areas of neuroscience such neurodegeneration and regeneration, cognitive neuroscience, cognitive epidemiology and aging, cognitive neurology, neurophysiology, computational neuroscience, neuroimaging, neural control system, presynaptic function, hippocampal function, and sensory system. This elective brought me to a… Show more I study master by research integrative neuroscience which comprises a wide areas of neuroscience such neurodegeneration and regeneration, cognitive neuroscience, cognitive epidemiology and aging, cognitive neurology, neurophysiology, computational neuroscience, neuroimaging, neural control system, presynaptic function, hippocampal function, and sensory system. In this degree, I took an elective which put more deeper aspects of neurodegeneration and regeneration. This elective brought me to a deeper aspects on how such research is conducted in University of Edinburgh, including practicals I got using zebrafish. There, I conducted research about mechanism of innate immune system in zebrafish spinal cord regeneration. This research result was presented in 7th Asia-Oceania Zebrafish Symposium in Singapore in October 2016. Show less

      My PhD mainly focus on neurobiology research. Besides that, during my PhD, I took courses regarding statistics of large biological data using RStudio, epigenetics, neurophysiology, and molecular medicine. In the molecular medicine course I learned a lot about therapeutics strategies and the research in different fields such as neurology, cardiovascular, cancer, and immunotherapy.

      Performing DNA amplification, isolation and purification of Penicillin-producing bacterias As a requirement to complete my bachelor degree, I must do a final project. This research project was my final project, which was from my own proposal. I evaluated the change of memory in neurodegenerative-induced mice with mangosteen peel extract. The result was evaluated with both neurohistochemistry (amyloid beta staining) and behavior test to evaluate the spatial memory (Morris water maze).

      As a part of my research project, I am doing 6-month research in which the result of the first 3 month research is presented as a scientific poster, while the result of the last 3 month research will become the thesis. In the first three month, I did characterization of macrophages and microglial cells in the spinal cord of zebrafish larvae after mechanical lesion. Afterwards, I did characterization of neutrophils response after spinal cord lesion in wild type and macrophages-absent zebrafish. Also, I did investigation of H2O2 mechanism in macrophages and neutrophils recruitment to the lesioned spinal cord of zebrafish larvae. Show less

To do so, I performed open skull surgery before performing the live imaging.       I am employed as a PhD fellow in Neuroscience at University of Oslo undersupervision of Dr. Cecilie Morland. My research topic is to elucidate the potential role of HCAR1 in neurogenesis and its molecular mechanism. This is a PhD project funded by NFR (Norsk Forskningsråd). This project aims to find the downstream mechanism and the neurogenesis potential of lactate receptor HCAR1 as a potential stroke treatment. We used wild-type and HCAR1-knockout mice which given exercise or lactate (HCAR1 agonist) and measure the neural progenitor cells (NPCs) formed in the brain. We used different markers to see the NPCs from different stages. We also used stroke mice to see whether HCAR1 activation affects NPCs recruitment toward the stroke area and healing the stroke lesion. Here I have more than one year experience in cell culture experiments, a month of handling mice in the exercise treadmill, over a year experience in confocal microscopy with two different confocal microscopes and the image analysis with IMARIS, ZEN and FIJI ImageJ. I also have experience for 1-2 months in cryosectioning, ELISA, and qPCR. Show less
