  Placement Lean Engineer

  University placement. I was involved with many continuous improvement processes and I completed 2 days training in lean manufacturing with Invest NI. I was responsible for filing job cards, updating KPI’s, recording non-conformances and Internal On-Time-Delivery. I also championed an improvement project to improve throughput of a certain product to 4 per day instead of 3. I also based my Final Year Project at JW Kane Precision Engineering, to reduce the set-up process of a 5-axis CNC Milling Machine. This required frequent visits and a lot of research into lean methods used to create a SMED environment. Show less

  FUSION InterTrade Ireland Graduate program with Dundalk Institute of Technology. Project is 12 months to increase production by 60%. I am the sole Project Manager on this project and I am using Lean Six Sigma tools combined with continuous improvement methods to achieve the target. I have also completed my Lean Six Sigma Green Belt course in December 2015. I have used tools such as PDCA, Control Charts and 5S to implement changes within the factory and also to gain a basis for Key Performance Indicators that are updated on a weekly and monthly basis. I was also involved with the design of Jigs, Fixtures and new products using SolidWorks 2015. I have designed new digger attachments and I have seen these products through from initial concept to finished products including doing assembly drawings and machining drawings. At Hill Engineering Ltd I have had experience with a broad range of materials and manufacturing methods, including plasma cutting, machining, welding and use of cast materials.I have also been leading a supplier improvement program which has meant that I have had to design a jig to test the function of one of our products. To do this I have used technical calculations based on hydraulic pressures, forces and also deflections. This has naturally required a lot of collaboration with one of our suppliers including visits to the Republic of Ireland and work sharing. Show less

  Edina Power Ltd are a UK market leader in the supply, installation and service of Combined Heat and Power Generators (CHP’s). I was one of three Mechanical Design Engineers at their manufacturing facility in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, reporting to the Head of Production.I am able to design a CHP containerized Genset from a few layout drawings combined with an accurate Piping and Instrumentation Diagram. I was responsible for designing pipework – including working out head loss and sizing of pumps, design of gas pipework, design of attenuation fittings, roof frame design, oil tank design and container design. I have also carried out Finite Element Analysis on my designs through SolidWorks to prove and modify concept designs. This included designing and testing a 40ft Shipping Container that was sent from Northern Ireland to Australia in 2016. Show less
