As part of my role, I was involved with a team that sought to develop solar energy systems for remote Timorese communities. The experience enabled me to develop my interpersonal skills such as; communication, leadership, initiative and teamwork, as well as providing a detailed insight into real world business applications. As a Network-Software Engineer at Telstra, I specialize in developing automation tools to expedite the provisioning of critical network infrastructure for our customers. My role encompasses both frontend and backend development, with a strong focus on cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices, where I have become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within my team.Technical Skills:Frontend: React/JavaScriptBackend: Python, Flask, API Development, C/C++Cloud: AWS, TerraformDevOps: Kubernettes, Docker, Podman, LinuxCI/CD: GitLab-CI, ArgoCD, SonarQube, Veracode, Coverity, AquasecAgile PracticesRedhat Product Suite: OpenShift, AAP, AnsibleKey Achievements:DevOps and CI/CD Transformation: Led the overhaul of our DevOps and CI/CD processes, introducing a security scanning pipeline that detects vulnerabilities in code, libraries, and container images. Implemented standards for code quality, automated the building of container images (CI), and established a CD process using ArgoCD. This enabled the tracking, monitoring, and deployment of dozens of micro-services and their supporting infrastructure, such as databases, exchanges, vaults, and network connectivity.Improved Team Output: Achieved a significant improvement in our team’s output, transitioning from pushing container images with critical vulnerabilities and inconsistent code quality to a state where all images have no serious vulnerabilities and code quality consistently passes the company-wide quality gate.Mentorship and Training: Provided extensive mentoring and training to junior engineers, helping them quickly develop their skills and confidence. Consistently received praise for my supportive and effective mentorship. Show less For my graduate program I worked within Telstra Networks & IT as a network engineering specialist and contributed to the development of new products and services for use on the Telstra Network.- As part of my work with the Enterprise Mobility team I have been developing new products to provide high-speed internet and have taken charge of writing software to remotely monitor the performance of test devices and to collect diagnostic information for reporting and refinement purposes.- I have further been responsible for planning and conducting service migration tests to ensure the system is robust, catches all cases and minimizes the chance of disruption to customer services whilst also meeting tight deadlines.- This role has given me highly developed technical skills alongside project management and stakeholder management skills. I’ve developed strong communication skills and the ability to extract critical elements of projects in order to meet tight deadlines.-As part of my work with the Network Optimised Products team I have been collecting and processing large datasets in order to develop products and verify that the product’s performance is as desired.- This project has developed my technical software and data analytics skills whilst also enabling me to refine my ability to work independently on a goal and to independently develop my own skills in a new area so as to meet project requirements in a short period of time.- This project has also enabled me to practice working with the business team to define project requirements and end cases and to help translate this into actionable tasks within the capabilities of the team and available resources. Our team proposed creating vitrual reality enabled remote proerty inspections for use within the rela-estate ndsutry powred by telstra's 5G network. In addition to the virtual reality, we proposed adding augmented reality eleents such as virtual furniture that could be chosen from a catalogue e.g. IKEA, virtual commute visiulations and other value add services that innovative tehcnologies enable. Our team presented several pitches of the idea to executives demonstrating the demand, technical design, commercial viability and financial modelling. Our team, in addition to our pitch and financial models, developed two sophisticated prototypes to showcase the potential of our proposal. These were: a smartphone app that allowed users to select furniture from a library and use augmented reality to place it in a room real-time and manipulate it; secondly, we built a website that allowed a user to use an interactive 360-degree photosphere to walk around a house and use computer vision (AI) to detect points of interest. Our team competed in several rounds and presented to high-level executives in Telstra and were ultimately awarded the 'Most Innovative Solution' prize out of over 1000 entrants.
