      Benmol, established in 1979, was an engineering consulting firm providing support to the U.S. DoE for validating a fluidized-bed combustion boiler design model developed by MIT. I was responsible for the analysis of data generated from operating a Fluidized-Bed Combustion Boiler process development unit. I also conducted equipment check-out and instrumentation calibration before and after each test run to assure accuracy of the collected data.

Rezaiyan led internally founded activities for the development of a process (THC®) for converting gas oil to maximum yields of diesel, jet fuel and naphtha; prepared commissioning, start-up, operation, and shut down procedures and test plans for a two-staged fluidized-bed pilot plant for hydrocracking of the heavy oil and gasification of resulting coke (Dynacracking® Process); managed Dynacracking® pilot plant operation, data collection and analysis; lead pilot plant modifications based on operational outcomes; Evaluating process flow diagrams and instrumentation of a first of its kind commercial scale Dynacracking® plant for safe operation and conducted what-if analyses, played a major role in design modifications, commissioning, operation and testing of coal gasification pilot plant and evaluation of operating data. Projects ranged from supporting International Program of DOE’s Office of fossil Energy to fuel switching for a cogeneration plant located in a U.S. metropolitan city, feasibility studies including developing financing plan for power projects in Venezuela and a unique FBC system for black liquor chemical and energy recovery at a pulp mill in South Africa, wastewater treatment and reuse in Jordan, and long-term power sector planning in Armenia. Rezaiyan served as project manager for the black liquor chemical and energy technology developer for a project in U.S. and developed procurement document and procured a specially designed combustor for this FBC system. He is currently providing technical and financing advisory services to a team engaged in biomass-, MSW-, medical waste-, and plastic-to-liquids project development internationally and another in developing small hydroelectric power projects in the U.S. as well as supporting developing, evaluating, and recommending a pipeline of projects in Africa for funding by the Alliance for Green Infrastructure (“AGIA”) and USTDA.
