  The International Student Council at Lamar University is one of the Member of Diversity Councils at LU parts of Texas Education as recognized to celebrate the diversity of the international student community, and to serve as a forum to address issues and concerns of international students before arriving to the USA and during their stay in the USA and after their graduations via LU Alumni Affairs and University Advancement. The Council hosts events in and out campus to promote cross-cultural understanding and global perspective as well as all related Student Services via several programs named:1. International Student Program2. International Student Services Program 3. International Recruitment and Global Partnership ProgramEach one of the above programs contains a list of events and activities that serves it purposes to maximize the benefits of the Council at LU with the International Student Services Office contribution by their Director, Mr. Michael Jiang, as well as via our networking and rich background by all board members. By these programs the population of international students who joins LU during our term of serving is doubled and triple that (around 1200) within three years later based on the Texas Education and U.S. News & World. We have achieved a lot since we’ve started and the main big achievements are: • Lift Lamar’s College of Engineering to become the top 5 most popular Engineering Schools for International Students (U.S. News and World Report on June 17, 2014);• Drive Lamar to No. 1 for international students OPT ratio in USA (Brookings, August 29th, 2014);• Elevate Lamar’s International Student STEM ratio to No. 1 in USA (Brookings, August 29th, 2014).
