      As Platoon Sargeant, I supervised the maintenance of five helicopters and two trucks. Assigned and trained as the companies aircraft and equipment technical inspector. Implemented a new technical publication library for the company with over 1000 manuals ordered, updated and filed. Ensured all aircraft maintenance records were reviewed and corrected before being sent to the company records arhcives. Trained personnel in many types of tasks that were to be evaluated and graded on a biannual basis. Planned weekly and monthly work loads and goals for the Company.       Aircraft inspector responsible for the maintenance of the State of Florida aircraft used to fly the Governor and Cabinet. Maintenance and inspection for the departmental aircraft was all done in accordance with FAA regulations. Conducted and trained, propeller and rotor static and dynamic balancing. Ensured all maintenance records were reviewed and filed in accordance with the governing regulations. Repsonsible for the “Right to Know” program for the shop and department. Assisted other agencies as scheduling allowed. Performed aircraft annual inspections, safety compliance, and special inspections while in charge of a crew of four employees. Recognized as a group and as an individual by the FAA as for being an outstanding maintenance safety program of the year. Developed an Excel spreadsheet that covered six aircraft and half a million parts for other state agencies. Assisted in maintaining a parts inventory in excess of four million dollars in parts and supplies. Preformed weekly jobsite inspections to ensure all equipment being used was in proper working order. Supervised the training of new electronic manual software and safety traing classes for the maintenance office. Maintained, inspected all aircraft test equipment for the department and trained personnel to use them properly.       Responsible for personnel records, training and payroll of 80 airmen at the Unit level and assisted with the deployment of over 2000 personnel at the Wing level. Monitor and maintain the unit commanders programs such as: family care, drug screening, deployment readiness, unit surveys, safety briefings and training, moral and welfare. Participate in squadron risk asessments meetings and planning. Coordinate sexual assault awareness training, conflict resolutions, awards, promotions and retirement programs. Ensure that awards and promotion programs were carried out in a fair manner and had final approval before proceeding to the commander for implementation. Member of promotion board for three years for our parent organization of 6000 personel. Organizes all retirements for the unit ensuring all paper work is in order and that the all ceremonies are carried out in accordance with proper protocol. In short the First Sergeant duties are to be the liasion for the commander keeping him informed of the state of unit readiness. Show less Performed perfomance and safety inspections as directed by OHSA, Department of Health, Defense, Air Force, and 919th Wing regulations. These inspections would include but were not limited to one or all of the following; C-130 MC/P aircraft pre-job perfomance inspection, in-process job inspection, post-job inspection and could cover simple office safety inspections to Wing level self performance inspections. Self inspections are check-lists that can be run prior to an outside inspection as preparation or as a self evaluation. These inspections would be done on aircraft, support equipment, hangers, offices that were being built or remodeled. All of the inspection data was logged into a database and used for trend analysis which could be used by the unit and D.O.D to spot safety issues and equipment problems. Organized briefings for commanders on facts collected by our inspections given monthly or as needed by special events. Performed accident and incident investigations and hazmat training at the Wing level (6,000 personnel assigned). The reports were briefed and reported to the Wing through to the D.O.D.Worked with others on teams to review, rewrite and make reconmendations to the Wing’s policies, Department of Defence and manufactures to ensure clear and meaningful policies and instructions. OSHA Authorized General and Construction Industry Trainer and teach all types of OSHA safety training on topics like but limited to: confined space, Hazcom, industrial truck, fall protection and 10 & 30 hour certifications.
