  In the "Financial Modeling and Uncertainty" group we deal with a wide array of projects and methodologies. My work involves determining spatial correlation (via intraclass correlation coefficients) for various perils, such as earthquake, US hurricane, flood, and severe thunderstorm. I've also worked on event clustering, using various clustering techniques. Handle insurance claims data from various countries, such as Japan, the US, and Europe. The work requires a deep level of mathematics and statistics, as well as programming and visualizations. Show less Main focus on validating catastrophe modeling software. Developed and executed detailed geospatial and statistical test plans for various stages of the product development cycle, such as:* Data quality of input data* Validity of model assumptions (in close collaboration with research teams)* Model outputs matching expectations* Accuracy of various algorithms Communicated findings to product management teams in order to provide status in the product delivery decision making process. Prepared analytics reports (with RMarkdown) and presentations for model review meetings.I strived to automate my processes for enhanced efficiency. Used mainly R and SQL (some ArcGIS), and wrote a personal R package (shared with colleagues) to extract specific data from a SQL database for import into R. Wrote all my tests in R using RMarkdown, which combined the analytics and reports generation into one single step. Show less
