The Singapore Government’s Standard ICT Operating Environment (SOEasy) contract was the single largest government IT project ever undertaken in Asia; and the single largest Government contract for HP in Asia Pacific with a TCV in excess of US$1bn. The contract encompassed providing Singapore Government agencies with Messaging and Collaboration Services, Desktop Services, Network and Common Services. As a nominated CTO delegate for the SOEasy account I had areas of responsibility extending into Infrastructure design and delivery, account innovation and architectural governance. These responsibilities included technical oversight of solutions via review boards, collaboration with the customer on requirements / solution outcomes and mentoring of senior engineering staff. I worked with a wide variety of technologies as an Architect on the SOEasy account. Details of the specific products cannot be shared under the Official Secrets Act, however the products belonged to the following areas: Messaging and Collaboration, Shared Storage and backup, Network (core, distribution and security appliance) IP telephony, Common Desktop and Applications, Patch and release management systems, Antivirus, Identity management and print services. Show less I held the role of Messaging Architect and Messaging Team lead for the Singapore Government SOEasy programme. This project included development of the architecture, design and subsequent deployment program for 85,000 mailboxes in a centrally hosted, disaster tolerant geo-clustered configuration. As Messaging Team Lead I was responsible for all elements of the architecture, design, development, as well as supervising and assisting in the build and implementation of the platform. Five Messaging Engineering Staff were under my direct report as members of the Messaging Team. Developed a reusable tool for calculating the network bandwidth requirements in an Exchange environment and deployed this tool to Engineering teams in EDS. I also held the role of Technical Lead for a large enterprise upgrade from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007 for an Australian Financial institution. Involvement in this program included leading the design process for the Microsoft Exchange platform for 45,000 mailboxes hosted in a disaster tolerant geo-clustered configuration.Provided mentoring and guidance for multiple messaging projects in the Asia Pacific region for many of EDS’ clients. Show less During this time at EDS New Zealand I held the roles of Designer and Technical Team Lead in a project deploying a global messaging platform for a large multi-national customer (Fonterra Co-Operative Group). This project consisted of unifying 5 separate messaging platforms with more than 20,000 mailboxes in over 20 countries and was carried out during a complete global refresh of all infrastructure solutions for the client. The Global Refresh project ran for 2 years, and involved 30 dedicated project managers, 60 specialist implementation staff, and 20 design staff. Designed and implemented a Microsoft SharePoint Portal for EDS Asia Pacific, allowing teams to share and collaborate on documents and ideas.Participated in development of “Design Lifecycle” Process for EDS NZ Design TeamInvolved in the development of a set of standard Design Templates for use by the EDS NZ Design Team Show less

      Senior Engineer

I was responsible for providing engineering expertise to a large financial testing transformation project. With a large number of strategic projects underway along with an enterprise-wide release strategy, the need for stable, secure and fit-for-purpose testing environments was deemed critical to the enterprise. My role was fundamental in bridging the gap between the application specialists, vendor partners and implementation teams ensuring that the test environments being provisioned met the needs of the business. The transformation project replaced the existing, decentralised, ’project centric’ environment model (across multiple platforms including Wintel, Midrange and Mainframe) with the establishment of a number of strategic, centralised Enterprise Test Environments. Testing environments were established using virtualisation technology, Midrange systems and IBM Mainframe partitioning where possible to create a “cut down” version of production with the same functionality but limited capacity (from a compute, storage and network throughput perspective). Technologies included Wintel systems based on IBM and Dell, Midrange hosting on IBM, SAN Storage (Multiple Vendors) and a wide variety of FSI applications. Show less

As a Technical Solutions Lead I was responsible for providing strategy, planning and oversight functions in a global data centre transformation programme. As the lead for the Leveraged Tools and Services stream I was also responsible for the planning the solution and architecture for a successful migration of multi-tenanted service delivery management stack to a new purpose build hosting facility. I managed a virtual team of 6 SME’s and architects across a range of technologies to ensure designs and strategies were in line with the overall strategy and concept for the migration. The planning and solution for this project included the current state analysis, proposed strategy and subsequent migration plan for a wide variety of system types, including Service Management, leveraged storage services, Leveraged network infrastructure and a variety of stand-alone solutions. The migration strategy for these tools varied across the stack, including Hardware Refresh and rebuild, lift and shift, and virtualisation. Show less

As the Workplace Services Senior Service Architect for client devices I was responsible for the end-to-end service architecture for the Macquarie Standard Operating Environment (SOE), end user devices, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), and productivity tools. My end-to-end service responsibility extended to supporting services such as application deployment, device audit and compliance, and security controls. Key activities included consulting with internal stakeholders and service delivery owners on the current capability of services, subsequently developing a service roadmap proposing new service capabilities to reduce costs, reduce risks, and improve employee engagement and satisfaction.I was responsible for developing the roadmap and program of work to bring the desktop into a current state, remediating a number of long-term system management issues which had prevented the desktop keeping pace with changes in key software. As the lead architect on a number of transformational activities including migrating to new productivity tools, I developed a release management framework and strategy to manage updating the desktop environment, and an end-to-end test capability for the workplace and central technology groups. I also acted as the Co-Chair for the Solution Architecture Review Board with governance mandate across all infrastructure and workplace solutions. Show less
