      I worked full time at Brandwatch while I studied for my diploma in news journalism. I spent a week working on The Sun newsdesk, wrote loads of news stories, created mobile and video packages, and set a course record for the fastest part time student to get to 100 words a minute in shorthand.

      During my year as part of the committee, we strengthened links with the department and put on various social, educational and careers events with high profile guest speakers. We achieved an increased membership, many of whom did not study Sociology or Anthropology, and improved the presence of the young society among students. Our final event of the year was hugely successful, with 70 guests coming along to celebrate the society's achievements. I was personally responsible for monitoring the society's accounts, producing budgets, organising fundraising events, arranging the funding of several social and careers based events and offering advice to other committee members on financial possibilities at weekly meetings.       Exeposé is The University of Exeter's independent student newspaper and has recently celebrated its 25th anniversary. With an estimated readership of 16,000, we produce 4,000 copies of the paper every fortnight while our website runs continuously. While we keep a strong focus on News, Exeposé is made up of 10 sections, also including Comment, Features, Lifestyle, Music, Screen, Books, Arts, Games and Sport.Exeposé can be found online at www.exepose.com, and a search of my name will bring up most of the articles I've written. Copies of the newspaper can be found at www.issuu.com/exepose .During my time with Exeposé I've done a number of interviews, including names like Alastair Campbell, Nick Davies (Guardian journalist) and Ann Daniels (record breaking Polar Explorer)My responsibilities include: - Leading a committee of 46 editors, photographers and proof readers as well as nearly 500 members of the student group.- Being involved in every aspect of the running of the paper from deciding on the front page, to dealing with it's finances, to distributing them around campus.- Striving, with the rest of the team, to keep a focus on our core audience and to hold The University and Students' Guild to account. Show less Sending out content calls to are large group of writers, editing copy, selecting appropriate images for print, planning and creating visually impressive page layouts using Adobe InDesign and editing images using Adobe Photoshop, attending long proof reading sessions, continuously using social media to publicise the paper and content, working and negotiating with online counterparts to ensure content is appropriate for either medium. I am also a regular contributor to nearly every other section of the newspaper and plan to run for Editor in upcoming elections.       (February 16th - 20th 2015)From my first day I was interviewing senior figures within HMRC and the HCA, writing two pieces as a result, on the HSBC scandal and new funding made available for housing for vulnerable people. I was also responsible for updating a large list of housing associations’ details on the website. I was praised for writing on subject areas I had little experience in with confidence and was apparently the first person to complete work experience on this desk.
