  • Carried out an undergratuate research (in Brazil called Scientific Initiation Research) after being granted a IC/FUPAM scholarship for that purpose. • Theme: “The transformation of run-down areas into leisure spaces:The Juventude Park as an example”.• The aim of this research was to study the replacement of the Casa de Detenção de São Paulo (known as Carandiru Prison) by the Juventude Park as well as the consequences of this replacement in Santana neighborhood. The research also aimed to analyze how successful this area has become as a public and urban park and to assess the effects of the transformation to the surroundings' real estate market. The final goal of this work was to identify the existent problems in this park as well as to propose guidelines that could solve those identified problems. • Advisor: Professor Marly Namur Show less
