  Assistant Delivery Truck

  The Society of Saint Vincent DePaul offers a variety of programs to assist those in local communities who may be less fortunate. They operate two thrift store locations in London, as well as a voucher program for free furniture and/or beds for those in need. As an employee of SSVP, my role is to work on the truck, picking up furniture donations for use in our various programs. Additionally, I assist in delivering both purchased and voucher furniture to the clients of our programs.I work as part of a duo with the driver, providing directions, calling clients ahead of time, and communicating with the dispatch manager to organize our daily route. When at the homes of clients, the driver and I either unload or load all the furniture and other items (donations of clothes, housewares, books, etc.) off of or onto the truck. This is repeated at one of two locations when offloading or loading furniture. This position has shown me the difference I can make in the lives of less well-off members of my community. Additionally, this position has given me the opportunity to improve my organizational and customer service skills, both of which I deem to be valuable to my employability. Show less

  Working as a Customer Sales and Service Representative at Fisher's Landscape Depot by SiteOne. I greet customers, take orders, recommend products, and assist them with whatever landscaping needs they might have. As a sales representative, I possess a working knowledge of all the goods and services that Fisher's by SiteOne can supply. I must then relay these to customers in a clear and precise manner so that their requirements are met. Secondly, I must then enter all sales and orders into our software system, to record revenue, manage customers, and track inventory. This also includes scheduling deliveries of material. Finally, I answer phones to take calls, respond to any customer questions, and prepare orders as well.However, due to the nature of the facility, this job also requires me to be adaptable, and do any other odd jobs around the yard that may arise. As a customer service representative, I routinely take customers out into the yard to show them our products firsthand. Additionally, I assist people with loading up bagged products and loose rocks into vehicles. Sometimes, products need to be prepared before sale, and so I will jump in to get them ready. This position has been a great opportunity to further broaden my workplace skills, presenting new challenges for me to undertake, and therefore grow as an employee. Show less
