  Global Health Fieldwork Experience

  This five week Global Health fieldwork experience was completed through the College of Health and Human Development at Penn State. The first weeks consisted of shadowing physicians and nurses in clinics located in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. After learning about the healthcare system in Dar es Salaam, I worked with the staff and students at The Dodoma School for the Deaf. My peers and I presented several community health outreach programs to both the students and their parents. The final weeks were spent in rural villages in the Dodoma region where we collaborated with nursing students from The Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences. Our objective was to conduct mental health assessments to augment the understanding and treatment of certain conditions. Show less
