      Classroom Tutor

As a classroom tutor I have been able to act as a resource to both students and teachers. I regularly provide specific and focused lessons to those students who may benefit from additional attention. I also get to assist teachers in managing the classroom, organizing and grading assignments, and creating lesson plans. I am in my third year now at the Angelo School and it really is a joy to go back year after year and watch my students grow and progress. I have been with a handful of kids since I started there, and have met many others along the way. It gives me such a sense of accomplishment when kids finally get something I am teaching them, it lets me know I am helping and making a difference. I feel like they also get genuinely excited to see me when I enter the classroom and it feels good to be appreciated in that way. Show less

      Lifeguard

I fell in love with Camp Otter my first day on the job as a lifeguard. It is such a open and welcoming environment for both staff and campers alike. I felt like I was serving a real purpose as a lifeguard because not only was I protecting the campers, I was also teaching them to swim and giving them the skills they need to protect themselves. Nothing was quite as rewarding as when I got to see my campers moving up swim levels because of the skills I had taught them. The high-energy and fast-paced environment kept me on my toes and things were never boring; no two days were exactly the same. The rest of the lifeguard team and I had a lot of fun that summer while also working hard to maintain a safe environment. Show less

      Resident Assistant

The resident assistant role has been one of great opportunity and challenge for me. I have been able to exercise my skills as a leader in the community, while at the same time being challenged to guide my peers through their college careers. This includes being available to talk and listen, resolving conflicts, providing encouragement, and acting as a resource to my residents. I've had the pleasure of working with some wonderful staff teams and it makes my role that much more enjoyable. I have also greatly enjoyed the program planning and implementation aspect of the role as it allows me to be creative and do something both fun and educational for my community. Through this role I have been required to hone my written and verbal communication skills, as they are essential to my success as an RA. Occasionally it is necessary to take disciplinary action and follow through with detailed written reports while maintaining discretion and confidentiality. This role has allowed me to grow as a person and has encouraged me to hold myself to a higher standard; it is an experience that has and continues to teach me lessons that I will carry with me throughout my future careers. HR Intern

This was my first real experience in a corporate office and I could not have asked for it to be with a better company. The culture at HarborOne was amazing, I felt welcomed by all and they really allowed me to grow and learn more about the HR field. Although I had limited access to most of the systems used by the human resources team, I did have some exposure to ADP and DescriptionsNow. In this role I was able screen resumes and sit in on interviews, I packaged training materials and helped facilitate certain aspects of training, and I assisted with everyday tasks around the office. These included filing paperwork for both current and terminated employees, checking that benefits enrollment matched the records, processing leave requests with the help of the HR Assistant, tracking employee vacation days, as well as a number of other assignments. One of the bigger projects I worked on while at HarborOne was updating all of the job descriptions in the DescriptionsNow system according to the supervisors review and adjustment of the criteria. My final project involved some analytical work and research on some of the current tools and methods used in the recruiting and selection process. It is because of the experience I had at HarborOne that I want to continue exploring the human resources field as a career path. Show less

      Waterfront Director

In my second summer at Camp Otter I was promoted to waterfront director which was completely unexpected but exciting at the same time. I had applied for the head lifeguard position but when I was given the opportunity to challenge myself even more as waterfront director I jumped at the chance. In this role I was still a lifeguard, but with additional responsibilities. I coordinated swim classes, conducted swim tests, organized the lifeguard schedule and rotation, ensured my staff stayed up to date on all safety policies and procedures, and encouraged a fun and safe aquatic environment. In this role I also had the opportunity to work with the senior staff team at camp. I assisted with opening and closing the camp, I took office shifts where I answered phone calls and organized paperwork, and I got to help plan and run weekend events and rentals. It was a great experience for me that further allowed me to practice my leadership and management skills in a unique environment. Show less

      Assistant Director

This will be my third summer at Camp Otter and I am so thrilled to be taking on the assistant director role. I will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the camp and helping to ensure each day runs smoothly. Some of my duties will include creating cabin and bus rosters, tracking attendance, communicating with parents, and overseeing the cabin and program staff. This position will be a great learning and growth experience for me and I am excited to see where it leads!

    • Rivier University

      Aug 2016 - Oct 2020

I have been working in the undergraduate admissions office at Rivier University for almost three academic years now, and was promoted to Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions about a year ago. I am so thrilled to be able to progress and grow in the higher education field at Rivier. In addition to maintaining the responsibilities I had as an Admissions Counselor, my role has expanded to include transfer admissions, international admissions, full responsibility for managing the student ambassador team, acting as a member of the University conduct board, facilitating event preparation and day-of coordination for on-campus events, and collaborating on marketing projects when needed. I wear a lot of different hats these days but I love the work that I do and it certainly keeps me busy! Show less As an admissions counselor I am responsible for the recruitment and enrollment of traditional, day, undergraduate students. This includes planning and implementing a travel schedule that allows me to get face-to-face contact with as many students, families, and school counselors as possible. I also help organize several admissions events as part of our recruitment process including open houses, tour days, and accepted students days. I have recently been appointed the co-manager of our student ambassador team. Our student ambassadors are current students that work for us in the admissions office and they are an absolute blast to work with! I feel like it is easy for me to relate to them on a personal level since it wasn't that long ago that I was I their shoes. In this role I am responsible for coordinating their work schedule, making sure they have daily tasks, and organizing their shifts during our special events. Aside from travel and active recruitment my other major role is reading application files and making and processing admissions decisions. I spend part of everyday trying to complete and review files in order to send out as many decisions as possible. Once decisions are made it is my job to coordinate a contact schedule for all of the students in my territory to ensure they know about us and feel like we are there for them. One thing I love about working at a smaller school is having the ability to text my students rather than calling and emailing all the time. I find that it is often more comfortable and easier for students to communicate that way and if I find a student that would rather text I am happy to make that accommodation for them. Overall I love what I do! This job has a series of cycles which I love because I never get bored. In the fall I travel, in the spring I switch gears to reading and event coordinating, and just when I think I can't take another day in the office I'll be back out on the road again! Show less
