  Setting up 13C-based Metabolic Flux Analysis in cell cultures

  Master Research Project 1. Grade: 8.Activities included experiment methodology design, cell culture of various cell types, imaging, and immunoblotting. Importantly, I setup and validated a GC/MS method to measure pyruvate, glucose and lactate in cell lysis samples under various conditions. In parallel I started experiments with the new XF24 Extracellular Flux Analyzer (Seahorse) to further validate GC/MS data.

  Project: Value Based Healthcare: How can Medical Affairs contribute? - A case study of the osteoporotic medicine Prolia. Grade: 8.5I developed an innovative knowledge sharing and collaboration platform using the Confluence software. It has been specifically implemented in the general medicine/osteoporosis brand team, and my detailed guidelines/FAQ write-up and development of complete templates will allow for easy and broad implementation and maintenance. Furthermore, I researched the concept of a Value Based Healthcare and identified opportunities for the Medical Affairs department. Lastly, I assisted in daily activities which arose from a business-need, for example the validation and modification of marketing claims for new promotional material. Show less

  In the Van Heesch group, we investigate the role of a novel class of small proteins called 'microproteins' in childhood cancer. We study microprotein functions and exploit their sometimes high tumor-specificity for immunotherapeutic applications, such as therapeutic vaccines. We perform pre-clinical research and combine experimental (sequencing and molecular biology) with computational strategies (bioinformatics).In my role as Project Manager, I am responsible for:- Managing research activities and aligning with priorities and requirements- Coordination with internal and external partners within the large Oncode Accelerator ecosystem- Leading new project exploration, acquisition and definition with academic and private partners- Coordinating and writing funding proposals- Budget and progress management and reporting- Professionalization of the group's structure Show less
