  SQL Server Developer

  • Designed numerous ETL packages using SSIS and SQL Server Management Studio, including producing automated interface files then setting up FTP’s with our external partners as part of day to day business processes. Based on data in one such package I created, we receive a subsidy every year worth hundreds of thousands of pounds. • Created a bespoke sales report using SSRS and MDX; it is used by the managing director and the board. I have also created an EPOS report used by finance which has helped identify £100,000’s in sales discrepancies between our system and bank statements. • Identified the cause of missing £100,000’s in sales in one of our systems using my TSQL querying skills to navigate my way around the databases.• Resolved broken ETL’s associated with our central reporting system during peak trading and in a timely fashion saving the business crucial time and allowing them to run reports. • Competent in TSQL using it daily as well as database maintenance like backups, shrinks and improving query performance. • Maintain a central sales dashboard built in excel using a SSAS connection to our bespoke cube; the dashboard is used throughout the company. I have knowledge in designing dashboards in Excel using cube functions. Maintenance includes fixing a broken dashboard, investigating data discrepancies, improving and updating the dashboard based on business requirements.• Migrated various reports from an old outdated server to a new server. Soon this server will be entirely decommissioned due to much of my work thus saving money. • I am the go to SQL/Data person in the company. For example, during a major systems replacement project I created various reports for stakeholders to act as a replacement of existing reports. Also, signed of interface specifications, interface testing, designed ETL packages in SSIS, performed data integrity checks on the front-end of our Excel based cube reports and more. Show less

  • Developed and maintained a SQL process that automated what was previously a manual monthly billing process using a combination of stored procedures and SSIS packages. Income received through this billing process per month was between £80k-£110k. Saved 2 + working days a month, thus freeing up capacity for the wider team• Fulfilled the diverse data requirements for the yearly national reference costs submission including extraction of data from source systems, loading of data into a SQL database, manipulation of data, designing of custom reports – one such report mapped 250 million records pertaining to costs to patient level data enabling for detailed reporting providing business intelligence for the director of Finance and other key decision makers• Automated a process used by the Head of Finance and budget managers which consolidated and streamlined 25 Excel workbooks into 3 database tables wherein data was manipulated, consolidated then outputted into 25 separate budget journal templates. This process replaced much of the manual work budget managers would do thus saving time• Supported the Finance Systems Manager in implementing significant tSQL coding improvements - for example, data was mistakenly deleted from the system forcing a 24-hour system rollback – code I provided was implemented into the production database reducing the chances of this happening again Show less
