      Addiction Services As an MSW student at this placement, I adhered to the ethical and professional standards set out by the University of Windsor and College of Social Workers as well as the agency itself. In my role, I assisted the professional staff in delivering comprehensive services, which recognizing clients’ individual needs, situations and experiences. Working with the Case Managers, I co-facilitated psycho-educational groups such as “Helping Women Recover” and “Beyond Trauma”, process groups and individual counselling. I also participated in “12 Step” meetings on and off site (AA and NA) and confidentially work with the clients through their addiction related struggles such as trauma, guilt, grief, unresolved anger, and relapse prevention. In my role, I was also regularly exposed to confidential client files, medical files including medications, and Case Manager meetings which included shift exchange discussions.       Outpatient Mental Health Services As an MSW student at this placement, I was a member of the Adult Outpatient team providing counselling to individuals who may be feeling anxious, depressed or stressed from lifestyle changes and relationships. Provided single session, strengths-based and solution-focused counselling to clients at the walk-in clinic. I was regularly exposed to confidential client files and health histories. Provided three confidential and individualized Brief Therapy sessions to clients requiring long term counselling, in order to work through some of the clients challenges by creating short-term goals and providing coping strategies, while also adhering to the College guidelines. Working with colleagues, I co-facilitated both inpatient and outpatient groups through the Day Hospital program. Conducted research on different social work modalities including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Solution-Focused Behaviour Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and Narrative Therapy in order to deliver clinical, evidence-based service. Responsible for internal and external referrals, comprehensive case notes, and termination summaries. Regularly exposed to observation and consultation opportunities. Attended weekly rounds with the mental health team to present cases and referrals, and pick up clients for Brief sessions.
